Professor Valerie Peterson will host a conversation-based course about a humanistic, healthy and helpful approach to intimacy.  Sex, Ethics and Communications will discuss sex, and how it relates to responsibility, vulnerability, and ethics.  Participants will also have conversations about the understanding that sex is a form of communication, both interpersonally and socially.  This four-session course could appeal to people of many ages, from teens to parents, to grandparents.

Valerie Peterson is a Scholar Author and Associate Professor of Communication Studies at GVSU.  Her work includes articles, book chapters, encyclopedia entries, as well as her recent single-authored book “Sex, Ethics, and Communication: A Humanistic Approach to Conversations on Intimacy.” This book will be used in the class and available for purchase, though it is not required to participate.

Classes take place at the Fountain Street Church, and begin at 9:45 am.
