Jason Meucci, Manager of Content Production at CNN, came to speak to broadcasting students on Wednesday February 29. Meucci visited Professor Keith Oppenheim’s Broadcast Seminar, a course which focuses on here-and-now issues in broadcast media.
Meucci spoke about how CNN developed one of the most successful news services in broadcasting, CNN Newsource. Newsource delivers content to more than 900 television affiliates in the United States and Canada, which comprises more than 80 percent of all TV stations in those countries. Meucci explained that along with a steady stream of video stories, CNN is also distributing new digital content specifically for client website, including text and photographs.
Meucci and Oppenheim worked together for several years together at CNN’s Chicago bureau. Meucci was a field producer and manager, Oppenhiem a correspondent. Now, Meucci lives in Atlanta and works at CNN’s headquarters. This is the third year in a row he has come to Grand Valley to speak to students about broadcasting.
