Grand Valley senior Amy Akers went to Lansing to receive some deserved recognition: the Jerry P. Colvin and Michigan Association of Broadcasters Scholarship.  The $1,000 award is offered to outstanding broadcasting students across the state. Akers has been an exceptional student in the broadcasting major and is now completing her second internship at WOOD-TV.
The presentation was made to recipients at the Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference and Expo in Lansing on March 14th. Akers spent the afternoon at the expo and took the opportunity to network with news directors and managers looking for new hires.  Akers has majored in broadcasting and anthropology and is looking to start her career in television news.
