Most West Michigan natives have heard about the radically open, independently organized, international art competition that is Art Prize. This competition turns Grand Rapids into an open playing field for artists and the public. Last year, Art Prize was featured on Good Morning America.
Since 2011, Grand PR—a student-run public relations firm—has worked directly with the Art Prize staff. This PR firm is based directly out of Allendale and is ran by17 SoC students. This year, GrandPR will be working with Art Prize by live tweeting during events such as the “Cat Video Festival” on September 27, the Top Ten ceremony on September 29, and the Art Prize Awards on October 4. In addition, the team will be assisting with media tracking.
Dominique DiPiazza is the GrandPR Account Executive for Art Prize. She says working with this national competition has been a mutually beneficially relationship that she hopes to maintain for years to come.
“By working with Art Prize, employees of GrandPR receive the first-hand experience of managing a huge client,” DiPiazza said. “Not only do we help them with their communications, we spread information about our firm and gain national credibility.”
