Last Thursday the Grand Valley Film and Video Alumni Chapter held an event to share their experiences and insights about developing their career with over 30 students. There was a panel discussion at the event, moderated by Alumni Chapter President DeLain Bomer. The panel included insight from alumni Michele Terpstra from Tool Farm, Dustin Foster from Chop and Hue, Ryan Gajewski from Pure Michigan and Rich Sharp from WZZM TV 13.
During the event, students learned about resumes, demo reels, social network profiles and interviews. After the question and answer segment of the event, the students had the opportunity for some one on one time with the alumni.
Jason Gant, Film and Video major, recruited other majors within the university to help film the event. The film will be broadcast on GVTV and the College Channel. There were four volunteers that helped with the event including, Uche Nnanabu, Hunter Burin, Kelly Loughlin, and A.J. Bedard.
The event was very successful and the Alumni Chapter plans to offer this every fall. Also, the story on how the new Film and Video Alumni Chapter was created will be in the upcoming School of Communications Annual Report, ¨Expressions,¨ which is coming out in April.
